Partner in Ampa Group and Chairman of Ampa Real Estate. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Haifa. He has over 30 years of experience in managing leading Israeli companies, as well as establishing and developing a variety of projects in Israel and abroad.
I came to Ampa thanks to my friendship with Shlomi Fogel. Shlomi acquired the group and asked me to join him as an expert partner in real estate, with a view to developing all the group’s assets.
working as a banker, to interest him in raising capital for the acquisition of Ampa. The group needed a change in its business model, and I recognized an opportunity to invest and develop financing solutions for consumers. I offered my attorney at the time, Shuki Wolf, as well as my friend Tuli Ceder, a longtime real estate professional, to join me – and so they became my partners. The process took a long time – three years – and finally, in 1998, the negotiations ended and we acquired the group.
Upon graduation, I started working in the shipping industry, at Sami Ofer Group. At the time, the late Sami Ofer told me that shipping and real estate are similar areas: In both it is important to know about purchasing the property, marketing it, maintaining it and selling it correctly – and indeed, over the years, I joined the real estate field.
We at Ampa love to change, love to hear and love innovations. It starts with us, the partners, and permeates the whole group. We are constantly evolving into other areas, and in fact bring our relative advantage as an entrepreneurial group to other worlds – agriculture, energy, shared working spaces and more.
In 2004 we established Ampa in the Galilee (now “Ampa Israel”), which specializes in building and populating kibbutzim, and I am emotionally attached to this venture. We have been able to ‘rejuvenate’ kibbutzim whose residents have grown old, to accommodate over 2,500 young families over the years, to change the faces of many kibbutzim across the country – and there is no doubt that this is a tremendous satisfaction.
The Electra Tower in Tel Aviv has great significance for us as a group. Beyond the tower’s historic use – where the group’s refrigerator factory was – it’s a project that houses a multitude of satisfied customers, from huge companies like Google and eBay to law firms and financial institutions.
Our tenants remain loyal to us for years, mainly thanks to our way of working: every property of the group is well nurtured, taken care of and maintained. The tenants not only receive assets at a fair price, but also enjoy a high level of maintenance, personal relations, and adaptations to their changing needs.
Another achievement is the success of the ‘social experiment’ that we have made: we have assembled, some friends, for the benefit of the business, we have become partners – and we have not only succeeded in generating value from this collaborative work, but also in staying friends. To make such a big change in an organization, one has to work with people and contribute to each other – and we, to my delight, have succeeded.
I like hiking, and every two weeks I wear my hiking boots and go tracking – on the Israel National Trail or abroad.
